About Alpha Scholars

We prepare our children to shape a better future.

Alpha Scholars is Southeast Asia's foremost society for the next generation of leaders. Our mission is to empower Alphas through knowledge, networks, and opportunities to impact and influence positive changes globally.

Our Story

Built by leaders, for the leaders they saw coming.

Alpha Scholars began in Bangkok with a conviction: the students of this region are capable of far more than test scores can show — and the world's most selective universities are looking for exactly that.

Our founders and counselors have spent their careers building companies, movements, and communities across Southeast Asia and beyond. Along the way, they kept meeting the same young person: bright, ambitious, hungry to do something real — and stuck in a system that measured preparation in practice exams. Alpha Scholars was created to give that student what actually changes a life: real work inside pioneering companies, real projects with real stakes, and mentors who have done it themselves.

We are deliberately not a college placement service. Placement is what happens at the end. Everything before it — the courage, the purpose, the execution — is what we build. The acceptance letter is a byproduct of becoming the kind of person universities compete for.

Advisor

Archawat “Khun Ohm” Chareonsilp

Khun Ohm advises Alpha Scholars in a personal, non-executive capacity, drawing on a career of more than 25 years spanning Washington, D.C., Southeast Asia, and the wider Asia-Pacific — a journey that began with his own international education in the United States.

He has held senior leadership roles at Philip Morris International, The Coca-Cola Company, and PepsiCo; led the Thailand office of The Asia Group; and co-founded or invested in more than ten ventures. He currently serves as Vice Minister of Finance of Thailand, and holds a B.A. from The George Washington University and an M.A. from American University.

Program Director

Amarit “Aim” Charoenphan

Aim is a serial entrepreneur who builds movements, not just companies. He founded Thailand's first coworking space, grew a grassroots meetup into Southeast Asia's largest technology conference, and has two successful exits behind him — plus more than 40 ventures and funds backed and over 1,000 founders coached.

A Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 honoree, Obama Foundation Leader for Asia-Pacific, and inaugural Edmund Hillary Fellow, Aim designs learning experiences that prepare students not only for admission to the world's top universities, but for the fast-changing world that awaits them afterward.

Academic Director

David Bloomfield

David is one of Bangkok's most experienced university admissions counselors, with nearly two decades guiding students into leading secondary schools, universities, and graduate programs worldwide — including more than a decade as Director and Senior Counselor at Top Scholars in Bangkok.

A graduate of Rice University and former Manager of Operations and Lead Instructor at The Princeton Review in Thailand, David combines rigorous academic standards with a personal, student-first approach — ensuring every student receives a roadmap tailored to their goals, and the support to reach them.

Our Philosophy

“Leaders aren't born. They are made, and so are you.”

Talent is common. Leadership is built — deliberately, over years, through real challenges and real support.

That is why our program looks the way it does. Internships, because courage grows from contact with the real world. Passion projects, because purpose is discovered by building, not by brainstorming. Charisma, because a leader who cannot tell their own story leaves their future in someone else's hands.

And it is why we will never write a student's essays for them. A parent once asked us why not — every other consultancy seemed happy to. Our answer: because your child won't need us to. By the time applications open, our Scholars can't wait to write about what they've been doing. That confidence, more than any acceptance letter, is what we're here to build.
